Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy (OT) is skilled treatment that helps individuals participate in various occupations, such as self-care, vocation or recreational activities. OT can help a person achieve or restore a range of skills and functions that are necessary for health and productivity.

The staff at The Recovery Project can help clients achieve various levels of functionality in all aspects of their lives, and help develop the skills that are necessary for independent living - including home management, work skills and leisure activities.

The Recovery Project is a specialty center offering Occupational Therapy to treat clients with spinal cord injuries (SCI), traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and for those who have experienced a cerebrovascular accident (CVA).

Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI)

With our occupational therapy for spinal cord injuries (SCI), we teach clients how to navigate everyday life. We encourage and equip clients to achieve independence during daily tasks such as dressing, grooming, food preparation and other activities of daily living.

Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI)

For traumatic brain injuries (TBI), occupational therapy from The Recovery Project can help a client regain the ability for basic self-care skills, and wider ranging skills such as complex memory and problem solving skills.

Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA)

Occupational therapy is a crucial aspect of recovery for every stroke (CVA) sufferer. Studies show that stroke sufferers are more likely to achieve maximum independence in many areas of life if they receive OT stroke rehabilitation therapy. OT is shown to help a person regain and maintain the ability to perform personal activities in a wider range of life categories.

At The Recovery Project, our facility offers state-of-the-art equipment for occupational therapy, plus the certified therapists that will provide individual attention. We will customize an OT program to help each patient regain as much mobility and independence as possible.

Neuro-Development Treatment (NDT)

We can provide OT services for general neuro-related therapy, and orthopedic therapy. We also have expertise in various neuro-related re-education approaches, including Nero-Development Treatment (NDT). NDT is a hands-on treatment adopted by occupational therapists that can help enhance functionality for stroke and head injury sufferers who have difficulties controlling their movements.

The Recovery Project OT team also utilizes Saeboflex Dynamic Tone Management and muscle re-education orthotic, as well as Ness H200 e-stimulation orthosis, intended for the neurologically impaired patient.
