Home Based Therapy

Often, in-clinic therapy is not the best or only solution for your therapy. In these cases, The Recovery Project can provide physical and occupational therapy in-home, and in community environments. The goal is to maximize independence in every environment. Our home and community based therapies may include the following:

Range of Motion: One of the cornerstones of functional independence, range of motion is intertwined with the ability to move, speak, or perform self-care tasks.

Strengthening: Improve the function of muscles with strengthening exercises. Increase strength, increase endurance, and improve or maintain existing range of motion.

Balance: Loss of balance is common with certain medical conditions, or because of advancing ago. Yet this condition can contribute to difficulty walking, and even to falling. Simple exercises, taught by a certified therapist, can improve balance and decrease injuries due to falls.

Transfering: Gain the skills needed for safely transferring from one surface to another.

Bed mobility: Scooting, rolling, or sitting up from a lying down position all describe bed mobility. This activity may be limited, but patients can often increase their bed mobility with the help of certified therapists.

Gait training: Patients with spinal cord impairments can often benefit from gait training exercises that help increase walking speed, and strengthen crucial mobility muscles. Adaptive equipment can be helpful, especially in the hands of certified physical therapists at The Recovery Project.

ADL Sisstance: DL, or the Activities of Daily Living, can be described as the tasks we perform every day for our personal care, meal preparation, housekeeping, grooming, and for the general mobility around our environment. Even leisure activities such as gardening, traveling and attending social functions are ADLs. At The Recovery Project, we can assist patients strengthen their ADLs after an illness or injury. We can help you reach your optimal range of activity with these areas, and more:
